Your child will learn:

  • Eye-hand coordination, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, pride and patience
  • Workshop safety including, attitude, behaviours, and best safety practices
  • Tool-specific safety and effective usage of each tool
  • Box creation projects, which teach basic layout, measurement, and construction techniques
  • Skill-building projects that will foster growth and take your woodworker to the next stage

Things to Know about our woodworking Classes.

How does this work:

  • You pick the time of the week that works for you and your child
  • I provide a safe working environment.
  • Safety equipment including eye protection, hearing protection and dust mask.
  • All hand tools for use in class
  • All consumable items such as sandpaper, glue and basic screws (within reason)
 

Items not provided:

  • Wood, although wood grows on trees, wood can be expensive depending on the project.
  • Hardware, if the project your child wants to build requires hinges or locks or items beyond basic screws I will notify you prior to the project starting. You have the choice to buy the items based on a material list I will provide you or I can arrange to have the items here for when the class starts.
  • Finishes, I do have small amounts of white latex paint. Anything beyond that can be purchased at the dollar store.
    Home Depot or any paint store offers sample pots that are the perfect size for most projects.
 

Frequently asked questions:

  • Can I stay and watch the class? Yes, you can!
  • How much is the wood? It depends. A detailed estimate will be given prior to the class.
    3/4″ plywood 2′ X 2′ is $19.55 at Home Depot
    3/4″ walnut 6-1/2″ X 6′ is approx. $65 from a lumber mill
  • Can I bring my own wood? Yes, you can. As long as it is not pallet wood and is dry and safe to use. We can discuss this prior to the project starting.
  • How long does it take to complete a project? Most projects can be completed in 3 hours.
